Follower-Following Ratio on Twitter is More Important Than You Think!

. 5 min read

Another leak from the Twitter algorithm shows the importance of follower-following ratio on X.

Users with low followers but high followings

⚠️ Reduce pagerank of users with low followers but high followings.

What does that mean?

It means if you have followed many people but only a few of them follow you back, your rank on X will be reduced by the algorithm automatically.

We have already touched upon the importance of this issue indirectly. In our article titled "You can't generate passive income with passive followers" we highlighted the importance of engagement rate on X.

Yes, you need followers but you need them to be active, not passive, inactive followers. Those inactive, bot accounts will reduce your engagement rate, you should immediately remove them!

If you are curious about your current Twitter engagement rate, you can calculate right now ⬇️

Let's get back to follower-following ratio! It is very clear: "reduce pagerank of users with low followers but high followings".

You need followers as many as your friends on X. How can you achieve this? Not always when you follow someone on X, they will follow you back. Especially, if they are someone who doesn't know you personally, they probably won't follow you back!

I want you to show some advanced methods to keep your follower-following ratio at a desired level.

Let's begin!

Find Follow-for-Follow (f4f) Accounts

Firstly, I searched for "followforfollow" on Circleboom's "Live Smart Search" module to find X profiles that used these keywords on their profiles ⬇️

Follow for Follow

Circleboom found 506 profiles for me!

Listing profiles

You can mass follow all these accounts with one click on Circleboom ⬇️

Bulk Follow

Now, I search for "f4f".

Circleboom listed 191 profiles for "f4f" ⬇️ You can bulk follow them, too!

f4f

If you want, you can make more specific searches with advanced search filters on Circleboom. For example, you can only search for verified accounts!

Unfollow Who Doesn't Follow You Back

You should navigate to the left-hand menu and see the "Friends" tab.

Select "Not Following Back" from the dropdown menu. Those are the accounts that you follow, but they don't follow you back!

Once you listed who doesn't follow you back on Twitter, you can easily and safely mass unfollow them.

Unfollow Who Unfollowed You on X

Some accounts once followed but then decided to unfollow you!

You don't need to follow them anymore!

First, navigate to the left and open up the menu. See "Followers" tab there.

Here you will see "Who Unfollowed Me?" option there. Click on it and navigate.

Now you can see those Twitter accounts who unfollowed you on Twitter. To keep your unfollower stats at a desired level, you can select those accounts and unfollow them on Twitter if you wish.

At this point, you can compare delivered Twitter unfollower stats to find out who unfollowed you on Twitter!

You can also set up an "Unfollower Alert" on Circleboom to get notifications whenever an account unfollows you on Twitter!

If you want to remove accounts who unfollowed you on Twitter, you can check them and continue to click the blue "Add to Twitter List" button to create a Twitter list out of your Twitter unfollower stats.

Hence you can succeed in keeping your following/follower ratio better!

Remove Inactive, Spammy and Low-Quality Accounts

You don't need spammy, passive, low-quality friends and followers who don't contribute anything to your profile.

Browse through your followers and check the boxes next to the users you want to remove.

You can also select multiple users at once. Once you have selected the users, click on the Remove Followers button at the top.

Alternatively, you can remove individual followers by clicking the red remove icon next to their name on the right side of the list.

A confirmation message will appear asking if you are sure you want to remove the selected followers. Click ''Remove Followers''.

Since the removal action is processed via the Circleboom Remove X Followers, you need to install it to complete the process.

Click on Download the Extension and install it from the Chrome Web Store.

Once installed, you can easily remove followers.

After installing the extension, Circleboom will automatically add all your removal requests to the extension queue.

Click on the Start button to begin the removal process.

The extension will process your requests and remove the selected followers.

That's it! Your selected followers are now removed automatically.

In order to have a balanced follower-following ratio on Twitter, you should do what I have shown above.

However, you should also post tweets that drive people to follow you organically.

Yes, you can purchase followers but I strongly oppose this idea.

You should create quality content. You should do it regularly. You should give it a time.

Then, you see how your followers are rocketing! 🚀

Conclusion

Maintaining a healthy follower-to-following ratio is crucial for your X success, as the platform's algorithm automatically reduces the visibility of profiles with a low follower count and a high following count. To keep your ratio at a healthy level and improve your account's ranking, you must actively manage your connections. This involves more than just attracting new followers; it requires strategically removing low-quality, inactive, and non-reciprocal accounts that drag down your engagement rate. By regularly auditing and curating your connections with tools like Circleboom, you can ensure your followers are active and engaged.

Ultimately, while organic content creation is key to sustainable growth, a proactive approach to managing your follower-following ratio is a foundational step toward a more influential and successful presence on X.
