Cybersecurity Twitter accounts to follow

As I already gave you a spoiler on how to find cybersecurity accounts on Twitter, let me first share my top 10 list:

  1. @ProfIsaPantami - 965k followers
  2. @robertherjavec - 799k followers
  3. @BlackHatEvents - 406k followers
  4. @CyberkovCEO - 360k followers
  5. @HalbornSecurity - 335k followers
  6. @DarkReading - 328k followers
  7. @offsectraining - 313k followers
  8. @netblocks - 259k followers
  9. @_JohnHammond - 246k followers
  10. @SecurityWeek - 221k followers

Why these?

Because when I used Circleboom to find influential accounts on Twitter, I used the keyword "cybersecurity". Thus, Circleboom went through the usernames, bios, and even the tweets of the people on Twitter to list the accounts talking about cybersecurity.

Of course, to find the "top" ones, I also selected only the "high engagement" accounts. And on top of that, I added a filter to show only the verified accounts. Finally, I used a minimum follower threshold of 50,000 followers.

Then I sorted the accounts based on the follower count to get the largest accounts. So, this was the list that appeared before me.

Yeah, not all of them are actually "influencers", but with such account activity and follower base, I'm sure they are worth following if you're keen on seeing more about cybersecurity on your Twitter timeline. Yes, I acted a bit safe here, but at least I'm sure that they're not "fake influencers".

Didn't like the results? Expecting to see different accounts? Maybe you should look for some micro-influencers focusing on such as cloud monitoring tools. Then the following can also be done through Circleboom:

  • Change the keywords you're searching for. Even the smallest changes count, like making it "cyber-security" or "cyber security". Or go for alternatives like "ethical hacking", "SecOps", etc. Then, you might see some more different accounts.
  • Play with filters. Looking for more accounts to choose from? Maybe include the ones with mid-level engagement also, lower the follower threshold, and uncheck the "verified only" box. You name it. But as I said above, fakers are always there. So using the fake/spam account filter might also be handy here.

Troubled with fakes in your following list also? Or bots keep following you on Twitter? Circleboom helps with them too.
