Let's start with a real-world example.
Real-World Example of Exported Twitter Accounts
Imagine you're managing a fitness brand. With Circleboom's advanced capabilities, you can delve deep into Twitter ( X) to find potential customers who are genuinely interested in fitness.
Consider this: someone who frequently mentions 'fitness', 'gym', or related terms in their bio or tweets is likely a fitness enthusiast and a prime target for your products. Right?
Circleboom's Smart Search feature is designed to sift through millions of accounts, pinpointing those who talk about fitness more than anything else. This isn't just a broad search; it's a precision tool to find those who are most likely to be interested in what you offer.
Once you've identified these fitness-focused individuals, Circleboom enables you to export their account IDs effortlessly.
The next step?
Use these IDs to target your Twitter ads directly at these accounts. It's a strategy that not only increases the relevance of your ads but also significantly boosts your engagement and conversion rates.
By targeting those who are already interested in fitness, your ads become more than just promotions—they become valuable content for your audience.

This approach, centered around exporting Twitter followers for hyper-targeted ads, has led to groundbreaking outcomes for our fitness brand.
Significant Uplift in Conversion Rates
By targeting Twitter users who frequently discuss our features, we've seen our conversion rates soar to unprecedented levels. Impressively, we've achieved conversion rates of up to 60%.
This is a clear indication that by reaching out to an audience already interested in our products, our ads are not just seen but are also acted upon.
Dramatic Reduction in Customer Acquisition Costs
Equally important is the impact on our customer acquisition costs. By employing this focused strategy, we've managed to reduce these costs by up to 50%.
This efficiency stems from the fact that our ads are reaching a highly relevant audience, leading to better use of our advertising budget and a higher return on investment.
Here, I will show you an advanced method to increase engagement and cut down costs for X Ads, only possible with Circleboom. It is exporting retweeters! You can export who retweeted any tweet or all retweeters of an X account, and target them through your Ads. These are already engaging accounts, so the engagement rate of your X Ads will be higher while you are targeting a smaller group!
Let me show you an example! Imagine you are a fast food brand and have decided to advertise on X. What I advise you is to analyze your competitors on X, export their retweeters, and target them!
I have chosen five fast food brands to analyze as your potential competitors: McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Wendy's, and Popeyes.
Now it is time to export those who retweeted their tweets.
I start with KFC. I first exported all their tweets, and then exported all those who retweeted their tweets. All can be done on Circleboom without any other tool or dashboard!
You will have a CSV file containing those who retweeted KFC's tweets, with their username, location, follower count, IDs, creation dates, and some other information.
Let me do the same thing for McDonald's ⬇️
Burger King is the next call ⬇️
Now, let me do it for Wendy's ⬇️
Lastly, I exported retweeters of Popeyes ⬇️
For these five competitors, I exported more than 150,000 accounts that retweeted their tweets.
Do you think it is still too big? You can narrow down your target audience by comparing retweeters of your competitors and finding common accounts!
Find overlap across CSV lists of retweeters and export the intersection.
Tip: Handles like @alice and alice are treated the same. We normalize case, trim spaces, and deduplicate within each file.
Thanks to this tool, now you can find those X profiles who retweeted your five competitors: KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Popeyes. You can hyper-target those accounts with X ads and get more clicks and sales from your campaigns with less money spent!
How will you do that? You can create custom audiences on X Ads. Here are the necessary steps:
Log in to Twitter Ads:
- Start by logging in to your Twitter Ads account. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to set it up by visiting ads.twitter.com
- Set Up Your Audience: In the "Tools" section, look for the "Audiences" option.
- Once you're in the "Audiences" section, click on "Create Audience." If you have existing lists, you also have the option to update and refine those lists.
- In the "Create new Audiences" section, you’ll see several options. Choose the one labeled "List - Upload a list of your customers." This is where you'll upload all the IDs from your CSV file. By doing so, you'll create a targeted Twitter audience list specifically composed of your most engaging followers.
- Then, upload your CSV file to this section. Keep in mind that Twitter accepts the following delimiters: tab (
\t
), comma (,
), semicolon (;
), or bar (|
).
- Final Step: After uploading your CSV file, you'll need to wait for X (Twitter) to process the data. This typically takes no more than 2 hours. Once processing is complete, your targeted audience list will be ready for use in your ad campaigns.
Why This Matters
Simply casting a wide net with broad targeting can quickly deplete your funds without yielding the results you need. By strategically focusing on hyper-targeted ads, you can dramatically cut down costs while simultaneously maximizing your return. Instead of paying to reach users who might be interested, you're paying to connect with a proven audience that is already engaged with your niche. This precision not only makes your budget work harder but also ensures every ad impression has a higher chance of converting, transforming your ad spend from a simple expense into a powerful driver of revenue.
One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by targeting those who have retweeted your competitors' tweets. A retweet is a strong signal of interest and active engagement, showing that these users are not just passive followers—they are influential and genuinely passionate about content in your industry. By targeting this specific group, you bypass the noise and reach an audience that has already demonstrated a clear affinity for content similar to yours. This approach leads to higher click-through rates and, ultimately, a significant increase in sales and revenue, as you're speaking directly to the people who are most likely to listen and take action.
Looking Ahead
The success of this strategy has opened new avenues for us to explore in digital marketing. It underscores the power of targeted advertising and sets a new benchmark for what we can achieve with thoughtful, data-driven marketing strategies.
In conclusion, the approach of exporting Twitter followers for hyper-targeted ads, as detailed in my blog post, has not only proven its effectiveness but has also set a new standard in our advertising efforts. We're excited to continue refining this strategy and sharing our learnings and successes along the way.

Contents of the Twitter Follower Data: Twitter Export File
Curious about what you'll find when you download your Twitter followers' data? It's quite a treasure trove of information! Here's what you'll typically see in the export file:

- Display Name: The name a user chooses to show on their profile, which can be different from their username.
- Bio: Here, you'll see the personal or professional description the user has put up on their profile. It's a neat window into what they're all about.
- Location: This is where the user says they're located, although it's not always accurate.
- Follower Count: You'll see how many people are following this particular account.
- Friends Count: This tells you how many other accounts this user is following.
- Tweet Count: The total number of tweets the user has sent out into the world.
- Lists: This shows how many Twitter lists the user is on or has created.
- Account Privacy: This indicates whether the user has chosen to keep their tweets private.
- Verification Status: You can see here if Twitter has given the account that special blue checkmark.
